The DAFT Visa
DAFT stands for the Dutch American Friendship Treaty, a 1956 agreement that gives US citizens one of the easiest paths into Europe. If you're willing to work for yourself, and yes, that absolutely includes folks our age starting something new, you can skip the salary thresholds and points systems that other visas demand. You register a Dutch business, set aside €4,500 as your starting capital (which stays your money, not a fee), and you're on your way to a two-year residence permit you can renew.
